01 · AI assistants

Ask your own AI about NHS prescribing.

We didn't build a chatbot. Connect DoseTrend to the assistant your team already uses, Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot, and ask in plain English. It answers from the same open NHS data as our molecule pages, 146 molecules of it, and every answer carries its data month, its caveats and its source.

The public figures are free and need no account. Subscribers sign in from their assistant and it reaches their own molecules, with everything their workspace shows. Setting it up takes about a minute.

One address, any assistant.

Connector address
https://dosetrend.com/connector

One address for every assistant. Without signing in it answers from the public figures; once a subscriber signs in, from their own molecules too. Read-only: it can look figures up, never change anything.

Claude
claude.ai, the desktop app and the mobile app
  1. Open Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Select + Add, then Add custom connector. Name it DoseTrend, paste the address above and select Continue.
  3. Under Authentication, subscribers choose Sign in when needed. Claude suggests No sign-in, which is fine if you only want the public figures. Leave the OAuth client as Use Claude's published identity and select Add.
  4. Subscribers: select Connect and sign in to DoseTrend. If you disconnect later, Claude shows a Connect button the next time you ask about one of your molecules.
  5. In a chat, select +, then Connectors, and check DoseTrend is switched on.

On Team and Enterprise plans an owner adds it once, under Organisation settings, Connectors, Add, Custom, Web. Everyone else then finds it under Customize, Connectors. The Free plan allows one custom connector.

Claude Code
the terminal
  1. Run the command below once. DoseTrend is then available in every session.
  2. Subscribers: in a session, run /mcp, choose dosetrend, then Authenticate. Your browser opens the DoseTrend sign-in.
Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http dosetrend https://dosetrend.com/connector
ChatGPT
chatgpt.com
  1. Open Settings, then Apps (called Connectors in older versions), then Advanced settings, and switch on Developer mode.
  2. Select Create. Name it DoseTrend and paste the address above. For authentication choose OAuth and leave the other fields empty: ChatGPT reads DoseTrend's sign-in details from the address. (No authentication also works if you only want the public figures.)
  3. Sign in to DoseTrend in the window that opens, then, in a chat, select +, then Developer mode, and pick DoseTrend.

Developer mode is on the Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans at the time of writing. On Business and Enterprise an admin may need to allow custom connectors first. OpenAI moves these menus from time to time; if a label differs, look for Developer mode under Settings.

Microsoft Copilot Studio
a Copilot Studio agent
  1. Open your agent, then Tools, Add a tool, New tool, Model Context Protocol.
  2. Server name DoseTrend, the address above as the server URL, and authentication None.

This gives your agent the public figures. We have not yet tested signing in from Copilot Studio; if you need your own molecules there, email hello@dosetrend.com.

Anything else
Cursor, VS Code, your own agents
  1. Any client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP can use the address above. No key is needed for the public figures. Most take a configuration like the one below.
  2. For your own molecules the client must support MCP sign-in (OAuth). It finds everything it needs from the address and opens the DoseTrend sign-in.
Configuration
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "dosetrend": { "url": "https://dosetrend.com/connector" }
  }
}

Then ask it something.

  • "Which ICBs prescribe the most apixaban, and which are growing fastest?"
  • "Compare atorvastatin, rosuvastatin and simvastatin over the last year."
  • "Who supplies sertraline in the UK, and how many packs are listed?"
  • "What can open NHS data not tell me about omeprazole?"

Every answer arrives with its data month, the caveats that apply and the NHS source, and a link to the molecule's page so you can check the figure. Assistants can still misread a table; the link is there for that.

03 · What it can see

Free for everyone, and everything for subscribers.

Everyone

The public figures for every molecule we track: twelve-month items, spend and growth, the last twelve months month by month, share of its class, the top ICBs and formulations, the primary care and hospital split, who holds a dm+d listing, the devolved nations, and what open data cannot show.

The same figures as each molecule's page, at the same precision. Nothing more.

Subscribers, signed in

Sign in from your assistant and it reaches your own molecules with everything your workspace shows: the full monthly trend, every ICB ranked, every prescribing organisation, hospital usage and prices paid, framework holders, signals with their evidence, and the monthly briefing.

The first time you ask about one of your molecules, the assistant opens a DoseTrend sign-in: your password and two-factor code, or your company's single sign-on. You see what it will read before you allow it. Your password never reaches the assistant.

Included in every plan at no extra cost. The connector never shows your assistant more than your workspace would show you, and you can disconnect it at any time under Settings.

What we see

Which tool was called, for which molecule, and when. Never your conversation: the assistant sends only the tool's inputs, such as a molecule name, and we keep nothing beyond the molecule.
